My Top 5 Vegan Cookbooks

January wasn’t long ago and many of you took part in veganuary, yay! We are still in lockdown and I see more and more of you cooking vegan dishes and sharing them on instagram and I absolutely love it. Instagram is my go-to place for inspiration and I have a whole collection of saved yummy recipes that I ‘definitely have to try some day’.

As I’m often asked where I get my inspiration and recipes from and I want to save you from cooking the same dishes over and over again (which I did at the start of changing to a plant based diet), here are my Top 5 vegan cookbooks.

1 The Happy Health Plan - David & Stephen Flynn / The Happy Pear

The bible. Whether you’re starting out with a plant-based diet or looking for new, fresh and healthy recipes, this is your go-to book. Although I’ve done almost every online course of The Happy Pear so far, this book is so worth it. It contains all the basic information on nutrients, vitamins, supplements, what to eat and - of course - yummy and healthy recipes.

2 The Plant-Based Diet Revolution - Dr Alan Desmond

,Knowing‘ and being impressed by Dr Alan Desmond from the facebook lives of one of The Happy Pear online courses, I was delighted to see he’s launching his own book this January. The knowledge he shares through his book, The Happy Pear online courses and his instagram account (be sure to follow him!) is amazing. If you’re interested in a more medical approach to the benefits of a plant-based diet and/or you’re having issues with your gut, this is a must-read. I especially love the part about the connection between happiness and the gut.

3 Vegan Cooking for Everyone - David & Stephen Flynn / The Happy Pear

Delicious! The recipes are SO GOOD in here. The book contains over 200 recipes that (really) anyone can make and I love planning my weekly meal plans with it. Be sure to make the whole food burgers and Chocolate Chip Cookies! They. Are. So. Good.

4 Deliciously Ella Quick & Easy: Plant-based Deliciousness - Ella Mills

In case you’re not into The Happy Pear at all, she would be my alternative: Deliciously Ella. This book features fuss-free, simple recuses that are perfect if you’re having a busy life. The recipes put vegetables at the heart of our plates, are easy to make and yummy. I also love her recipes for every day: Deliciously Ella Every Day: simple recipes and fantastic food for a healthy way of life .

5 Rachel Ama’s Vegan Eats: Tasty plant-based recipes for every day - Rachel Adam

I love learning new things and trying things out, so this cookbook has been an eyeopener. The vegan recipes are inspired by Rachel Ama’s Caribbean and West African roots and wow - the flavours are so good.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask me / send me a DM on Instagram. I know it can be overwhelming at first but you’ll see the benefits of a plant-based diet in no time.

Let’s be happier and healthier without harming that many animals in the process. Happy cooking!
