My Favourite Skillshare Classes: Illustration

Stay-at-home weekends are perfect for snuggling up on the couch with a nice cuppa tea (and the dogs of course, or the cat or whatever it is for you).

Let me be honest with you: I am restless, I am deeply curious about everything and I love learning new things and exploring. As exploring the outdoors is a no-go right now, I focused on learning over the past months.

It’s so great that we’re living in the 21st century: there are books, online coachings, zoom coachings, Skillshare, Creative Live, MasterClass…just to name a few. As I’m a self-taught artist, I’ve learned a lot from them and I am still learning, every day.

I know many of you already use Skillshare for learning new things (same here 👋🏻), as it’s affordable, the community is engaged and amazing and you can do a 14-day free trial on its Premium paid membership if you like.

If you’re curious and love learning, too, this is for you! Here are my favourite Illustration Classes on Skillshare:

Illustration by Design: A Guide to Elevating your Drawing Skills

by Ira Marcks, Graphic Novelist

Everyone loves a good illustration. Good illustrations are amazing. Good illustrations make you feel something, can illuminate ideas and make complex information look so simple all at once. There’s one thing a good illustration needs, though: design thinking.

In Ira Marcks’ class, you’ll learn to define your creative goals and evoke stronger feelings in your drawings.

I personally really enjoyed this class and can highly recommend it.

Animated Illustrations

by Jamie Bartlett, Graphic designer and left-handed letterer

Animated Illustrations, how cool is that? No need to add anything more here, just do it. You’ll need an illustration and Adobe Photoshop, nothing else.

Enjoy!

Ink Illustration Techniques in Procreate

by Liz Kohler Brown, artist | designer | teacher | author

Liz is not only one of my favourite teachers on Skillshare, she’s also an amazing illustrator. In this class you’ll learn three different ways to use ink lines and dots to add shadow, highlights, and depth to your work. Enjoy this creative ride!

Intro to Procreate: Illustrating on the iPad

by Brooke Glaser, Illustrator and Children's Designer

This class is perfect for you if you’re new to illustrating on the iPad and/or in procreate.

Floral Illustration: Composition Meets Negative Space

by Peggy Dean, Top Teacher | The Pigeon Letters

One of my all time favourites and I’m sure you’re going to enjoy it. I’ve learned so much about creating a proper composition and the best aesthetic and I simply love Peggy’s botanical line drawing.

I hope you enjoy these classes as much as I did
