#1 Never Stop Learning

May I ask you a personal question?

Who or what taught you the biggest lessons about what you do?

I spent a lifetime on YouTube learning the ins and outs of my craft, and if I had to narrow down the three most important things I’ve taken with me, they’d be:

Never stop being curious.

Never stop practising.

Never stop learning.

Before starting out, I thought most of what I’d need would come through extensive reading and learning the rules, and as it turns out, I had it all wrong!

It’s all about being curious, practising, trying out new things and DOING.

And I want you to have the same benefits from it as I do. I’m very curious and always eager to learn more, but in the last few years I’ve lost one thing: creating just for fun, just for learning. Creating because I want to learn. Creating for no-one else but myself.

So this is how the Never Stop Learning Series was born.

Come with me while I fail, learn, laugh, have fun, LEARN. Feel inspired, amused, shocked (hopefully not)… I hope I can add value to your creative journey with this series.

Enjoy!

#1 How to Draw Cute Characters with Simple Shapes: Let’s Draw Bears with Lisa Glanz

Maybe you’re like me, and are usually avoiding drawing animals because the seem too difficult to draw.

Lisa Glanz, being her usual amazing self, teaches us some fun techniques to help us overcome that anxiety and feel more confident in drawing animals.

Who is Lisa Glanz?

Lisa is a multi-passionate illustrator living on the sunny coast of South Africa. She’s a lot like us, creatively curious, hungry to try new things and always eager to better our skills. The passion for learning has driven Lisa’s creative journey. Mostly self-taught, she faced the same struggles we all do. From finding our own style, figuring out how to make a living as an illustrator and everything in between.

In this Skillshare class, we’ll learn how to:

  • identify key features of a bear which we’ll apply in our own work

  • use simple organic shapes to create adorable animal characters

  • plan our character to inject more personality and magic into our work

  • apply all we’ve learnt to sketch and add colour to our final character

Bonus Extras in the class:
